Panera Bread is planning on opening 12 cafe/bakeries in and around Memphis in the near future!! They have these all over Missouri and when I was living in North Carolina I ate at them regularly. Check out the Memphis Daily News story here for a bit more background about the company. Think Atlanta Bread Company with even better sandwiches and soups and fresh baked bread and baked goods made daily! Plus at the end of each business day they donate alot of their leftover baked goods to local charities and organizations that help those in need of food.

I just moved here from Indiana where we have LOTS of Panaras....and I can't tell you how HAPPY I am after reading your blog about Panara coming to Memphis. You have made my day!!! Now I can finally enjoy my chai tea lattes!!!
Yeesh. I come from the other side of the table. Pretty much all we have for restaurant selection where I live - Howard County, Maryland - is corporate-owned restaurants, such as Panera, and mediocre locally owned spots. Little vitality or vibe.
Well, I'm glad you're happy with they're possible arrival, and they are a wi-fi friendly kind of place. But be wary of too many corporate owned stores. They can kill the soul of a place.
I just looked up the location on Panera's site and it says the fist location in Memphis in on N. Germantown Pkwy. So fill the tank up, rotate the tires and head East.
